Hey there, I’m a journalist based out of Denver. I work at The Denver Post as the digital strategist for The Know Outdoors, a website dedicated to skiing, hiking and everything in-between. My job is a mix of story-level production, social media, newsletters, SEO and audience engagement. I help dictate our site’s coverage and will pick up breaking news stories when needed. I also like to pitch in on larger projects at The Post, from an award-winning food video series “The Colorado Plate” to a more than year-long reporting project into teen suicide.
Before I hopped on the digital team, I was a general assignment and breaking reporter for The Post. I covered stories with international interests, such as the Taylor Swift trail and Women’s March, as well as localized national stories, such as the Dakota Access Pipeline protests and statues for leaders with racists pasts. I pitched and executed a profile series on the local LGBTQ community that won the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist Association’s Excellence in Profile Writing award in 2018.
I like to try new things, from an ice cream flowchart and an online quiz about baby zoo animals to teen essay contests focused around mental health and a Facebook live with the writer behind the syndicated column “Ask Amy.” I also tried my hand at bingo.
Above all, you should know I have a passion for both cats and plants.
